Djeggnogg said: "There are many here on JWN that use anyone's thread to voice their personal gripes with the teachings of Jehovah's Witnesses, just as you have done here in this thread in your mention of "blood fractions," which is way off-topic." - You brought an illustration which wasn't directly related to the threads title in the first place, and I felt as though I had to point out the inconsistencies between reality (jw's have been disciplined for things they shouldn't have been, just because they lived in a period of time before something was allowed, FOR EXAMPLE: blood fractions, not that I have any problem with them, were not allowed in the past and now are) and your illustration, which gives the impression that the 'children' have a fair and consistent set of rules that don't change, such as stealing food and lying which have always been 'wrong' and always will be. May I suggest that, if you want everyone to stay 'on topic' in future, you try not to bring into a discussion illustrations that don't apply to real life and are seemingly irrelevant to the main theme of the thread? As for the (yet again) sex obsessed part of your post, which makes it quite clear that you believe that anyone who is df'd from the organisation for a 'sexually based' reason, simply makes up excuses afterward in order to run off and have sex with anyone they want to, is more revealing as to your way of thinking than it is to the motives of many people that you insist on tarring with the same brush. Have you ever considered that some have been df'd for doing nothing except being seen with someone or merely being targeted by a rumour etc., and have then decided to go off with that person, when they've been cast off from their families for at least a year in most cases? You make it sound as though people just leave the org to fulfill their desires, and any doctrinal issues (which may later turn out to be 'correct' based on a future view of a scripture) are just an excuse made up later. I've had enough of replying to you, it clearly isn't getting either of us anywhere and your judgemental, condascending tone is really starting to make my blood boil. If people as arrogant as you (come across) are the nearest that imperfect mankind can get to being truly Christian, then the world really does need to end.. Good night all.

1874, 1914 and 1943
by TD ina persistent meme that floats around on jw related internet forums holds that christ's second coming was moved forward 40 years (i.e.
from 1874 to 1914) in the year 1943.
(this appears to be based primarily on a statment in the book god's kingdom of a thousand years has approached on page 209 and to a lesser degree, a footnote at the bottom of page 133 of the publication jehovah's witnesses - proclaimers of god's kingdom.).

Djeggnogg- It was post 138. (The chicken leg example I came up with was based on the blood fraction issue, by the way, in case you didn't get it). You seem to have missed the point I was making about obeying men who change their minds and even their 'scriptural' stance on things that are right and wrong, so I think I'll take my leave at this point.

"Here, for the first time, is specifically mentioned the "otherpeople" who are not of the lineage of Adam and Eve." "What we have here is two stories, one of man in general - human species and the other of TWO specific people that would begin a specific race- Adma and Eve." Just to be awkward, how do these theories fit in with this.. Genesis 3:20 New King James Version (NKJV) 20 And Adam called his wife’s name Eve, because she was the mother of all living.

Djeggnogg said - "us, their parents -- to be morally wrong, you will still be disciplined in the same way that WE equally discipline all of OUR children without exception in the hope that you will learn that you must comply with OUR RULE"(capitals mine) - This illustration is an incoherent mess, it doesn't make sense gramatically, and you refer to 'us' as being both the children and the parents, but I thought I'd just point out that the 'parents' (Governing body) seem to own the children in your little story, and they expect the children to submit to their rule. Whose flock is it that the GB are meant to be sheperding? And would Jesus leave his children with people that change the rules as they go, even changing the severity of punishment and/or whether the action is punishable, who even kick out of the home and spiritually place the death sentence on any child that dares to say they are being treated unfairly and inconsistently? For instance, to go along with part of your example, a child who stole a chicken leg from the freezer and was disciplined (based on a rule regarding not stealing chicken from the freezer), is upset when another child a short time later is allowed to take a chicken leg because the parents have now 'realised' that the leg doesn't represent the whole chicken, and so the rule of not stealing chickens doesn't apply here. Just two of the flaws in your illustration in relation to reality.. Dj said- "your rebellion against our authority as your parents" - Whose authority are Christians under? And if Jesus has given the GB/elders at the local level such authority, where is the proof? There is plenty of evidence of lack of divine backing.. Dj said- '' leave this stuff alone, for we have a central body of elders -- we refer to them as our"Governing Body" -- to whom we look to resolve such matters'' - Really.. So jw's look to the GB to resolve matters? How about Jehovah, shouldn't he be at least consulted? I find this sentence very revealing as to who jw's today really put their trust in. ''Maybe one wishes to put a little more zing in their life by assuming the risks associated with having sexual relations with someone to whom they are not married'' - What is wrong with you? Are you obsessed with sex? There's a pattern developing.. This part of the reply of yours has nothing to do with the question, which was about the generation doctrine and its changes. Why can you not answer the question in a clear, concise and direct way, rather than avoid it? You still haven't replied to my last post in the 'spiritual paradise' thread, though, so I don't expect a reply to this.

JW directives you thought were downright stupid
by fallen_princess ini remember one time when i was about 17 years old, i wanted to arrange a costume party for the young brothers in the congo around my age.
i suggested it to one of my friends and was told that the elders had advised against it because it could be construed as pagan and masks have their roots in demonism.
of course, i was never shown any biblical proof of this but just that response took the wind out of my sails and i decided to just not go through with it.

Men can't wear sandals to meetings/service. If you don't agree that it's a rule, try it and see what happens.. One brother wore them on the ministry once (on a hot day), and he was counselled not to do it again. To which he replied, ''If Jesus wore them, then they're good enough for me''!

It can easily be said that Cain met a sister that Adam+Eve produced at some point. If you want some more debate-worthy contradictions, take a look at some of these.. http://www.infidels.org/library/modern/jim_meritt/bible-contradictions.html "The sins of the father ISA 14:21 Prepare slaughter for his children for the iniquity of their fathers; that they do not rise, nor possess the land, nor fill the face of the world with cities. DEU 24:16 The fathers shall not be put to death for the children, neither shall the children be put to death for the fathers: every man shall be put to death for his own sin." "How many stalls and horsemen? 1KI 4:26 And Solomon had forty thousand stalls of horses for his chariots, and twelve thousand horsemen. 2CH 9:25 And Solomon had four thousand stalls for horses and chariots, and twelve thousand horsemen; whom he bestowed in the chariot cities, and with the king at Jerusalem."- The Bible we have today isn't inerrant. This could be fun to point out. ''GEN 7:2 Of every clean beast thou shalt take to thee by sevens, the male and his female: and of beasts that are not clean by two, the male and his female. GEN 7:8 Of clean beasts, and of beasts that are not clean, and of fowls, and of every thing that creepeth upon the earth, GEN 7:9 There went in two and two unto Noah into the ark, the male and the female, as God had commanded Noah.''- Two/seven, not much difference...

What Is It That Really Troubles the Governing Body of Jehovah's Witnesses?
by orangefatcat inwell i think what worries them the most is that more and more witnesses are becoming free thinkers and that is troubling them, it worries them that thinking freely will cause them to seek answers elsewhere and that is the last thing the gb wants.
they have pulled the reins so tight now how much tighter can they pull before many witnesss crack under their yokes.
what is your thoughts on this matter.. .

"Nugget and I have been discussing these brochures, we need to know who the target audience is? Is general public or,like the old "enjoy Life forever", is it aimed at those with reading difficulties?" - Having listened to the talk, they're aimed at 'those with limited reading skills and people who don't speak English/whatever language its printed in as their first language'. Interestingly, the GB stated, according to the speaker at my convention, that they hope that these are the 'most widely distributed publications they've ever produced'. Put that statement together with the statement regarding the education level of the people they're targeting with these brochures.. What do you think?

Hey, don't worry about it. I've done some slightly crazy/emotional posts that I've later found myself wishing that I could delete. It's part of being open with people on here, sometimes you'll say something and wonder why you did, but it was just how you felt at the time. If it makes you feel any better, the link in cattails post looks quite interesting to me, so you may have helped me by starting this thread without knowing, as BP said could happen. The only thread that could be a waste of time is one that receives no replies.. This clearly hasn't been.
